Beauty Bits I've Been Loving and Testing Lately
Long time no see, friends! Today I am finally back with the beauty bits I’ve been loving and testing lately. I’ve found a lot of new favorites in the last few months, and since I’ve recently scored a job in beauty, I’ve been completely inundated with samples. So here are a few thoughts on a whole lot of things:
Tatcha: My skincare routine has been 90% Tatcha since Christmas and I just can’t get enough. The Essence is an old favorite for boosting hydration and radiance and the efficacy of everything layered over it. The whole Luminous line from the Mist to the Firming Serum to the Concentrate to the Sheet Masks is my current obsession. They have my skin constantly looking plump, dewy, and bright - which is the ultimate goal for me always. And the Water Gel is a solid, lightweight moisturizer for sealing everything in without getting too heavy. Winners all around.
Biologique Recherche P50: I ran out of this recently and immediately realized why I needed to repurchase. It smells legitimately terrible, but this liquid magic clears up my skin’s texture and my acne like nothing else. Worth the weird horseradish smell any day. My skin is fairly sensitive, but the classic P50 has worked for me without any irritation.
Chantecaille: I’ve only recently been trying bits and pieces from this brand, but oh boy. The Jasmin and Lily Mask is a dream for soothing and hydrating skin, I even leave it on overnight sometimes. I received the Blanc Gardenia Essence gratis from work, and so far I’m digging the lightweight brightening power. If you’re like me and love the Glossier Cloud Paints, you’ll probably love Chantecaille’s Cheek Gelées. The lightweight gel-creams leave the prettiest, most hydrating flush.
SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic: If you read a lot of beauty content, you’ll probably have heard of this one. It literally smells like hot dog water, but I’ll be damned if I don’t get at lest 3 requests for it every day at work. This is a lot of people’s holy grail, so of course I had to try it. The smell definitely lingers, but I’ll have to get back to you on whether that sky high price tag seems worth it.
Supergoop City Sunscreen Serum: I love the idea of this product. I’ve been learning a lot about how free radicals and environmental pollutants in general can impact the skin and increase premature aging, and this product seemed right up my alley when it comes to trying to prevent all of that. It’s lightweight, has a lovely sheen to it, and I love the clean formula. So far, I’ve been pairing it with the Supergoop Lip Screen and Hand Cream (like the sunscreen obsessive I am) and refreshing with the Defense Refresh Setting Mist throughout the day.
Dr. Barbara Sturm Face Cream: This is a super hyped up brand and when presented with a sample I couldn’t resist. So far I’m a bit meh about it. It’s hydrating yes, but heavy for my taste. The mostly neutral but still a little odd scent is a bit weird to me. Overall, nothing about it strikes me as being particularly exciting so far, but I’ll use my little sample up and get back to you!
What have you guys been trying or loving lately? I’d love to hear!
