10 Clean and Sustainable Alternatives to My Glossier Favorites
If you’ve been following me for a long time, you’ll know I’m a Glossier fan. I still regularly do and love a full face of the brand. This post is in no way meant to put the brand down or anything like that, it’s just the research I’ve done in an effort to this year be a bit more conscious about how my beauty routine can impact both me and the earth. Blame it on the amazing Netflix series “Our Planet” and the rise of sustainability talk in the beauty community on Instagram! These are alternatives to Glossier favorites that are all clean, and for the most part focused on sustainability in ingredients and packaging as well. Of course they’re not going to be exact dupes, but they are similar in feel and results! Check them out:
Instead of Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser… Try Osea Ocean Cleansing Milk. This plant-based, vegan cleanser is just as gentle as Milky Jelly, but features sustainably sourced ingredients like bioavailable seaweed, and sports eco-friendly packaging. It’s hydrating, removes impurities, and still has that nice soothing feel.
Instead of Glossier Skin Tint… Try Kosas Tinted Face Oil. Easily applied and radiance boosting, the Tinted Face Oil features mineral pigments suspended in six active botanical oils. The oils hydrate, brighten, plump, protect from pollution, and soothe - meaning you’re getting a whole lot of skincare benefits in your makeup.
Instead of Balm Dotcom… Try ILIA Balmy Days Lip Care. Quick and easy hydration featuring organic avocado and orange oils. The brand also uses sustainable packaging like recyclable aluminum and recycled paper printed with vegetable dyes.
Instead of Generation G Lipsticks… Try Rituel de Fille Enchanted Lip Sheer. With 10 colors to pick from, the Lip Sheers are super moisturizing and not overly pigmented, for the same casual feel. Every ingredient comes from places that use ethical labor and ingredients like palm oil are avoided to minimize environmental impact.
Instead of the Super Serums… Try Odacité’s Serum Concentrates. Combining efficacy and purity, the Concentrates each combine just a few ingredients to specifically target different issues. Need a boost of glow? Try the Wild Carrot. Pimples popping up? Black Cumin + Cajeput might be for you.
Instead of Cloud Paint… Try Kjaer Weis Cream Blush. Yes there is quite a price difference! But part of that difference comes from that beautiful, refillable metal packaging that you only have to pay for once - cutting down on the amount of trash coming from your makeup. The Cream Blush is also certified organic and features hydrating, anti-aging, and antioxidant ingredients.
Instead of Soothing Face Mist… Try Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator. With a base of aloe and herbal anti-inflammatory ingredients this mist is just as soothing and includes fatty acids, so that it’s not just soothing and hydrating on it’s own, it’s also setting up your skin for everything you put on afterwards.
Instead of Haloscope… Try Noto Botanics Hydra Highlight Stick/Pot. Get that dewy glow you love while good for your skin ingredients like rosehip seed oil and rosemary work to hydrate and heal the skin, as well as help protect it from free radicals.
Instead of Priming Moisturizer… Try One Love Organics Skin Dew Coconut Water Cream. Manufactured in one of the country’s few Ecocert facilities, this cream (and the rest of the brand) is certified natural, organic, and environmentally friendly. More than 50% of the formula is super hydrating coconut water, and when you add antioxidant and nourishing oils you get a cream that leaves your skin supple and dewy.
Instead of Glossier You… Try Ellis Brooklyn Myth Eau de Parfum. The scent has ambrette and musk, for that same soft warmth in a Ecocert environmentally-friendly bottle with a biodegradable cap and with a paraben, phthalate, and cruelty-free formula.
