Review: Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel
Gel moisturizers are perfect for the summer. They're lightweight and still (hopefully) pack a punch of hydration to keep your skin fresh during the warmer months. My go-to lately has been the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel. After going through a deluxe size sample of the gel, I ended up picking up a full size bottle and I wanted to talk a bit about why.
First, let's talk ingredients. Drunk Elephant works to use only clean and non-toxic ingredients, and only includes ingredients in their products when they actually boost the effectiveness of the formula (they're also cruelty-free). Since I've recently delved into natural/green beauty, that's a mission I'm drawn to and impressed by. This particular formula includes Vitamin B5, which helps to boost the moisture level of the skin; pineapple ceramides, which hydrate and improve the tone and texture of the skin; and a watermelon/apple/lentil combo meant to decrease fine lines and boost the longevity of hydration.
So, what gave this particular moisturizer a permanent spot on my bathroom counter? One, it's extremely lightweight and you don't need a lot to get the job done. I use two little pumps for my whole face and neck. It sinks into my skin immediately - even if I have a bunch of serums and oils underneath it - which is essential for me. I hate feeling products sitting on top of my skin. It doesn't irritate my sensitive skin at all, which is also huge for me. Since using it regularly morning and night, I've definitely noticed improved texture in particular on my skin. Any little bumps camped out on my face for weeks are now completely gone. Last, but certainly not least, I find that my skin does stay hydrated all day long. I've spent the last week in a dry 100+ degree heat and not once has my skin felt dry at all.
That's all I really have to say on this particular product! If you're looking for something that plays well with a complicated routine or that you can just slap on straight after cleansing, I'd definitely give this a try. If you're worried about cost, the tiny deluxe sample lasted me a couple of weeks, so I fully expect the big bottle to last me several months, and it's already been so worth it for my skin.
Have you tried this moisturizer or anything similar? Let me know in the comments!
