Beauty Inspiration: Music Videos

If you haven't seen Selena Gomez's latest music video, I'll include it below. In it she sports a seriously glowy, no-makeup makeup look and enviably glossy lips. It was a look I was immediately drawn to and one I'll be using often the rest of the summer. Take a look to see what I mean, and I'll tell you how I'm going about it!

Prep

I'll be prepping my skin with Dr. Roebuck's Ultimate Hydrating Serum and Glossier's Invisible Shield for a super moisturized and well defended face. I think for this look, the more hydrated your skin is the better, as it will help to boost your natural glow.

Base

After a little experimenting, my favorite way to achieve that insanely glowy look without looking like I have a ton of makeup on is by combining a couple of products. A dollop of Juice Beauty CC Cream for some color, Glossier's Priming Moisturizer for dew and reducing redness, and NYX Liquid Illuminator. You could totally use similar substitutes for any of these products, they're just what I happen to have on hand and like. The combination is key though for that effortless-looking glow.

Eyes & Brows

Selena doesn't have much definition to her eyes or brows in this look, so we'll keep it simple. I'd use a couple of coats of any mascara - just don't make it too thick and clumpy. For brows, some light penciling in would work, but I personally go for a light application of Glossier Boy Brow to keep my brows looking as natural as possible.

Lips

The lip gloss used for the music video was a Marc Jacobs peachy-pink color. For a similar substitute, I've been using the Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer in Sandstone. It ends up looking like my lip color, just glossy. Rather than use a color, you could also go with a clear gloss like the one Glossier makes!

Last Touch

To preserve your glow, spritz with a nice and hydrating facial mist like the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist.

Nails

If you want to take this one step further, mimic Selena's nail color with a light peachy-pink. Hers is pretty opaque, but I went with a Sheer Strength formula from the Sephora Collection.

That's it! It's a look that pretty much takes five minutes to achieve and leaves you looking like a glowing summer goddess - what could be better?
